Individual Sessions

Individualized one-on-one services for athletes and performers. Whether you’re trying to overcome a specific challenge or looking for ways to enhance your overall performance, we meet you where you are with evidence-based performance psychology skills.

Our Approach

We believe psychological flexibility lies at the foundation of reaching optimal performance. Psychological flexibility allows you to approach all situations (in and out of performance) with awareness, intention, and committment to your goals and values. We challenge the idea that optimal performance can only occur in the absence of nerves, fear, anger, or disappointment. We help you stop spending your time and resources trying to get rid of these things or pretend they aren’t there and instead, teach you how to appraise, approach, and use self-regulation skills so that you can direct your energy and effort where you need. We provide you with different skills to accomplish your goals based on your needs and strengths, which means our work with every athlete looks different. (We don’t believe in anything that is “one size fits all.”) Common concerns we work with performers on can be found below.

  • Managing performance anxiety

  • Maintaining composure under pressure

  • Building and sustaining confidence

  • Understanding and leveraging motivation

  • Reconnecting with enjoyment of your sport

  • Mental preparation

  • Adapting to new performance environments

  • Identifying your goals and values

  • Increasing presence and focus

  • Regulating emotions and physiological arousal

  • Enhancing overall well-being

What We Can Help With

How Does It Work?

Getting Started

We have a free, 20 minute, initial consultation with any individual interested in working with us. These consults give us a chance to answer any questions you might have, as well as make sure we’re a good fit for your needs. We also make sure you have a clear idea of what working together will look like and give you the chance to ask us any questions about ourselves and our work.

Your First Session

If you and your consultant decide it’s a good fit, the first session you have will be an intake. Intakes typically last one full hour. During your intake, we spend time getting to know you and what exactly it is you’re hoping to get out of our work together (and if you aren’t sure what that is, we’ll figure it out together). We’ll talk about your strengths, challenges, and needs to make sure we have all the information neccessary to formulate a plan for your future sessions.

After Your First Session

Individual sessions typically occur weekly or bi-weekly and are 50 minutes long. Although this is the model that we operate in the most, we are flexible and allow customizability for you to select the format that works best for you. During individual sessions we will explore your performance experiences, identify what is working and what isn’t, and learn and practice new mental skills, mindsets, and strategies. This process is reciprocal. You guide us as the expert on you, and we in turn guide you in optimizing your performance. We’ll also be checking in with you frequently to get your feedback about how you feel sessions are going as well assess progress as we go.
